While it is possible to include video in an email, we don’t recommend it for the following reasons:
- Support for the <video> element is very low amongst email clients. You can see which clients support video here: https://www.caniemail.com/search/?s=video
- Emails over 100kb can have deliverability issues because historically 'bad actors' have included malicious code as an attachment.
- If larger emails make it to the inbox they will be clipped by services like Gmail.
- Large emails use up bandwidth and data allowance which leads to a slow download. This issue is worse on mobile devices which account for a large percentage of opens. Data allowance is also a factor on mobile networks which could be even slower to download a large file.
We recommend linking to a video hosting platform to give your contacts the best experience.
