When Ometria receives information about a contact (e.g. via your website), it attempts to identify them as an existing contact using the following information (in order of priority):
- Ometria’s profile hash, which is appended to the URLs in your Ometria campaign emails to help us identify contacts.
- The customer ID provided to us by you.
- The contact’s email address.
If none of these values match an existing contact in Ometria, a new contact is created using the provided email address and customer ID you provided.
