You can enable a setting in your automation campaigns which will enter all contacts who comply with the entry trigger, regardless of their email opt-in status.
Select the Settings cog and in any automation campaign and tick the Enter contacts ignoring email optin checkbox:
How does it work?
Opt-in status will still be checked when a contact reaches a Send email, Send push notification or Send SMS action, so any contacts who are not opted-in to receive those marketing communications from you will leave the campaign.
For example, if Jane is opted-in to receive push notifications, but opted-out for email, she will enter your campaign and if she reaches a Send Push action node she’ll receive the notification.
However, if Jane reaches a Send Email action node she will leave the campaign.
Add to/Remove from segments
Enabling this feature means you can use automation campaigns to add any contacts to a static segment, or remove them from a static segment:
Cross-channel campaigns
You can also enrich your campaigns by including push notifications or SMS for contacts who are opted-in for those channels but not for email.
To do this, create a segment for contacts who accept push notifications (or SMS), and a second segment for all other contacts:
Next, add your actions - one for push notifications and the other for email:
You might also have a wider audience reach for your social synced segments:, e.g. by targeting contacts who are not opted-in to receive emails from you:
Split tests with control group
If you use automation campaigns to split test your contacts with a control group, you should make sure to add additional segmentation at the start of your flow to ensure that only contacts who are opted-in to receive email enter the split:
This will avoid creating uneven splits (i.e. one group having a larger number of opted-out contacts than the other).
