With “rate limiting” you are able to limit the number of emails a contact receives per day and per week.
Note: Be aware that the rate limiting feature only applies to automation campaigns. You cannot apply rate limiting to broadcast campaigns.
Why limit number of emails?
In reality, sending too many emails is very difficult, specifically with marketing automation, but can happen if you are running a lot campaigns. You need to have better control over the amount of emails their contacts / customers receive and rate limiting allows you to do that.
How it works
You have to specify the maximum emails you want to send per day and/or per week. When an email is about to be sent, Ometria will verify the total amount of emails a contact has received in the specified time period. If the contact is over the limit we will queue the email and try to re-send it for up to 12 hours. If the contact is still over the maximum number of emails (s)he is allowed to receive (after that 12 hour time period) we will discard the email completely.
How do I use it?
Go to your Account > Settings > Campaigns tab.
Maximum email per day
We will check if you have received X number of emails in the last 24 hours.
Maximum email per week
We will check if you have received X number of emails in the last 168 hours.
You don’t have to fill in both fields, you can choose to only activate rate limiting for a daily or weekly limit.
Important: to deactivate rate limiting you need to empty the fields.
