Overview

In Ometria you can use the Customer filter to create very specific segments based on the date of an event.

For example, by using Date of first order, you can create a segment of all contacts who made their first purchase in the last year.

When you select a date event in the Customer Filter, there are further options to configure and specify your filter:

before

The date event occurred before the date entered.

E.g. Date of first order before 21 December 2019:

All contacts who placed their first order before the 21st of December 2019 will meet the filter conditions.

before (relative)

This option marks the date event as X days/hours/weeks before today, then looks back from that date (ignoring the time from that date to now).

E.g. Date last ordered before (relative) 6 weeks ago:

All contacts who last ordered before the day that was 6 weeks ago from today meet the filter conditions.

after

The date event occurred after the date entered.

E.g. Date of first order after 21 December 2019:

All contacts who placed their first order after 21st December 2019 will meet the filter conditions.

after (relative):

This option marks the date event as X days/hours/weeks after today, then looks forward from that date to now.

E.g. Date Last ordered after (relative) 14 days ago:

All contacts who last ordered after the day that was 14 days ago meet the filter conditions.

This filter updates dynamically, which means that it will always look for more contacts relative to today’s date:

  • Today this filter will include all contacts whose last order was between today and 14 days ago.
  • Tomorrow the filter will include contacts whose last order was between tomorrow and 14 days before tomorrow (i.e. 13 days from today).

Note: This is not the same as the ‘between’ option, which filters between two fixed dates and does not dynamically look back from the current time.

This is a useful filter if you are sending a triggered abandoned browse or abandoned basket campaign and you want to exclude customers who recently made purchases.

on

The date event occurred on the date entered.

E.g. Date of first order on 21 December 2019.

All contacts who placed their first order on the 21st December 2019 meet the filter conditions.

on (relative):

The date event occurred on the date that was 'x' hours/days/weeks ago from now.

E.g. Date of last order was on (relative) 14 days ago

All contacts who placed their last order on the day that was 14 days ago from today meet the filter requirements.

between

The date event occurred between the two dates entered.

E.g. Date of last order between 01 March 2020 and 01 April 2020

All contacts whose last order was placed between 00:00 on the 1st March 2020 and 23:59 on the 1st April 2020 meet the filter conditions.

between (relative)

The date event occurred between 'x' days ago from now and 'y' days ago from now.

E.g. Date last ordered was between (relative) 28 days and 14 days ago

All contacts who ordered between 28 days ago and 14 days ago from now meet the filter conditions, inclusive of day 28 and day 14.

This filter won't include any contacts who made their last order in the last 14 days or any contacts who made their last order before 28 days ago.

day of month is

The date event occurred on the nth day of every month.

This filter can be used to analyse purchase trends on paydays.
