Once you’ve designed your automation campaign flow, ensure the campaign has a unique title and select SAVE to preserve your draft. 

If the campaign and your entry trigger are ready to go, select PUBLISH.

Note: If you make any changes in your master email templates before hitting PUBLISH, you’ll be prompted to merge those changes into the template instance you used in your campaign.

After publishing your campaign, you can find it in Campaigns > Automation Campaigns 

By default, the campaign is ‘Paused’.

You can also select the following modes:

Testing mode

The flow is live and will trigger emails based on real events on your website, however the emails will send to the 'Ometria-testing' email address instead of to real contacts. 

Note: 'Send email' is the only Action node that functions in testing mode - 'Add contact to static list', 'Remove contact from static list' and 'Tag contact' will not action while in testing mode. 

Testing is useful for previewing emails and subject lines before your contacts receive them, as well as checking any dynamically populated content such as first names.

It’s also useful to see the volume of emails generated by your campaign. 

You can see your testing activity in the ‘Activity’ tab of the Campaign Performance - Automation Campaigns dashboard. 

Note: Any contacts that enter the campaign during testing are ‘test entries’, which are dropped when you activate the campaign.

Active mode

The flow is live and will trigger emails based on real events on your website, to real contacts. 

When you set a ‘Paused’ campaign to ‘Active’ and there are already contacts active in the campaign, you have the option to:

  • ‘Resume campaign’ - contacts will receive emails based on where they were in the flow when the campaign was paused, or; 
  • ‘Restart Campaign’ - any contacts currently in the campaign are removed and all stats are reset.
