Overview

Tracking parameters for broadcast campaigns are set at account level in the 'Email Settings' screen (Account > Settings > Email Settings), and can be edited for each individual campaign in the broadcast campaign builder.

The logic Ometria uses when appending tracking parameters to email links is:

  • Take the default broadcast tracking parameters defined at account level.
  • Attach these parameters to new broadcast campaigns and enable the user to add, edit or remove as required.
    • If there isn't a value yet (in account or campaign settings) Ometria takes the default tracking parameters for broadcast (these are "utm_medium", "utm_source","utm_campaign" and “utm_content”) and uses their default values.

For broadcast campaigns, you can also add tracking parameters to individual variants within a campaign. 

When using these parameters, Ometria prioritises as follows:

  • Parameters applied to variants
  • Campaign level parameters
  • Account level parameters
  • Ometria defaults

Add tracking parameters at account level

Go to: Account > Settings > Email Settings

Scroll down for the Broadcast Campaigns settings:

Enter:

  • Your tracking parameter
  • The parameter value

See the list of default tracking parameters for reference.

You can also select a user attribute from the ‘Insert personalisation’ drop-down list. This will populate the required merge tag, allowing you to track attribution specific to the contact who clicks through to those fields.

You can use ‘Insert personalisation’, or you can use any merge tags to include data here. 

Select ADD to add further parameters.

Click SAVE to preserve your changes.


Add tracking parameters at campaign level

Open the campaign builder for your individual campaign and navigate to the DELIVERY tab.

Scroll down for tracking parameters:

Select ADD under ‘Tracking parameters’ and enter:

  • Your tracking parameter
  • The parameter value

See the list of default tracking parameters for reference.

You can also select a user attribute from the ‘Insert personalisation’ drop-down list. This will populate the required merge tag, allowing you to track attribution specific to the contact who clicks through to those fields.

Select SAVE to finalise your changes.

Add tracking parameters to broadcast campaign variants

If you have multiple variants in your broadcast campaign, you can add individual tracking parameters to each variant. 

From the campaign builder, navigate to the DELIVERY tab, then select the segment you want to add tracking to:

Select ADD under ‘Tracking parameters’ and enter:

  • Your tracking parameter
  • The parameter value
