Custom ranges apply to the product sequence metrics in your merchandising blends.
Custom ranges are similar to merchandising concepts, but Custom Ranges rely on numeric data, e.g. price, and Merchandising Concepts use string data, e.g. material, colour, etc.
These ranges use numerical data to determine the order in which your products are shown, e.g. as well as the default "high price to low price", you can use custom ranges to include "mid-range", and use that in your blends.
Create a new custom range
Go to: Website personalisation > Merchandising > Custom ranges:
Click Create new custom range and choose a field type:
Choose from:
| Field type | Description |
| Price | The price of a product. |
| Cost | The cost of a product, i.e. the price it was bought for rather than sold. |
| Margin | The difference between the cost of a product and the price at which it's sold. |
| Stock | The number of products currently in stock. |
In the next screen, complete the custom range form:
| Field | Description |
| Name | Enter a memorable name for your custom range. |
| Description | Enter a clear description. |
| Tags |
This is an optional field. Use tags to to group and filter in the Custom ranges screen. |
| Smoothing algorithm | Select either:

| Visualise | Select to show relevancy in the weights pie chart. |
| Field | This field auto-populates with the field type you selected. |
Save your changes, then select your weights.
Weights
Add weights to your ranges to define their importance/prominence in your merchandising strategies. E.g. weighting high cost products higher than low cost.
Select your weights and apply percentages to them:

Go to: Website personalisation > Merchandising blends and select a blend.
Your custom range displays in the drop-down menu for the relevant product sequence metric.
In the example above you can see three ranges: High Price, Mid-range price and Price.
