Page elements are the areas in your store website where you can place merchandising features:
There are four default page elements available:
- Product list page - targets all category pages:
- Search results - the strategies that apply to your products when a visitor performs a search on your website:
- Autocomplete results - the strategies that apply as the visitor types in the search bar:
- Autocomplete home recommendations - the strategies that apply before the visitor starts typing.
You might want to set up your own page elements, e.g. for product recommendations.
You can see all of your page elements in the Merchandising strategies screen:
Create a new page element
Go to: Website personalisation > Merchandising strategies and click Create new page element:
Choose a page type:
| Page type | Description |
| Home page | Used to target the Home Page section of your front-end. |
| Product page | These are often used to create product recommendations, e.g. "You might also like…" or "frequently bought together". |
| Category page | Same function as the Product List page: will target categories across the front-end. |
| Search page | Will target the search after the Enter Key has been created. |
Next, complete the fields in the Default strategy tab:
| Field | Description |
| Id |
Enter a unique ID. This is used to call the page element on your website. |
| Name | Enter a memorable name for your new strategy. |
| Description | Enter a clear description. |
| Products per element | Choose how many products should display in this page element. |
| Recommendation type |
Select a product recommendation. Click Configure to add filters to your recommendation.
Note: Recommendation type is only available for product page elements.
|
| Merchandising blends | Select a merchandising blend. |
| Merchandising templates | Select a merchandising template. |
| AdSpots | Select an AdSpot. |
| Group by |
Select a product group. If you leave this blank, this strategy will inherit the number from your default strategy. |
Save your changes.
Settings tab
In the Settings tab define the following:
| Setting | Description |
| Facets | Add a facet. |
| Filters | Use this feature to filter out products and/or attributes that you want to exclude from your merchandising strategy. |
The following features require specialist knowledge from a developer. We recommend leaving them untouched:
- Titles
- Abstracts
- Images/Media
- Properties
