The cohort reports analyse your contacts acquired by month (month of first order, lifecycle stage, etc.) and provide an overview of customer behaviour over time.
The reports look at newly acquired contacts, i.e. contacts who were added to your Ometria database within your selected time period.
A ‘cohort’ is a group of contacts that share a common characteristic. They are grouped based on the category you select.
To create a new cohorts report, go to Reports > Create reports
Select the Cohorts report type and configure the report to your liking, then click Run.

You can select Export at any time and download the report as a CSV file or an .XLSX file (optimised for MS Excel), or send it to a team member:

Comparing the cohorts report to the segment explorer
Ometria's cohort report shows data for contacts who were acquired over a specific time period.
If you use the customer filter in the segment explorer to create a similar report, you'll need to include these date ranges in your filters.
Example:
If you create a cohort report with the following setup:
| Field | Description |
| Group by | First visit medium |
| Metric | Total revenue |
| Time span | 12 months |
Then the equivalent setup in the segment explorer would be:
- First visit medium - which is - [select visit medium]
AND
- Date contact acquired - in the last - 365 days
If your cohort report hasn't been refreshed in a while, you might also want to include a filter to exclude contacts acquired after your report date.
So, if your report was last refreshed on 11th March 2026, add a filter for:
- Date contact acquired - before - 11 March 2026
