In Ometria, the country assigned to a contact is determined by the following (in order of priority):
- The country supplied by you via CSV upload, API call or your ecommerce importer (e.g. Shopify or Magento).
- The billing address used in the contact’s last valid order.
- The country associated with the IP address (using IP geolocation) of the contact’s most recent website visit.
If the country cannot be determined through any of these steps, the country field is left as ‘unknown’.
Ometria uses a different hierarchy for determining a contact's location to use in geo-targeting segments.
Note: The country code you supply must conform to the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 format.
