You can create geo-targeted segments of your contacts based on their location using the customer filter.
You can use the geo-targeting filter anywhere there's a customer filter in Ometria, including the campaign builders.
From the customer filter, select Geo-targeting > Customer's location is near
The Geo-targeting screen opens:
Choose an address
There are several ways to choose an address for your filter.
In the Explore tab, you can simply enter an address and add it to your filter:
Click Save Location to use it again later.
In the Saved locations tab you can choose from your saved locations and physical stores.
Use the map to navigate, or choose from the list view:
Set contacts' proximity to a location
Once you've added your location to the filter and it displays in the list on the right, you can change your proximity.
Set a proximity, i.e. the maximum distance of a customer's address from your chosen location in either miles or kilometres (km):
Before you can use your filter you'll need to save any unsaved locations either by clicking on the pin in the map or selecting the elipsis (...) on the right:
Click Save to start exploring your segment!
How does Ometria know which address to use for contacts?
Ometria uses addresses from the following sources, in this order of priority:
- Preference centre - if your contact has supplied an address in their sign-up form. Get in touch with the Creative Team if you'd like to include an address field in your preference pages.
- Order data - we use the contact's billing address, or if not available, their shipping address.
- IP address - we get this from the visits payload from the JavaScript tracker on your store website.

For automation campaigns, we recommend setting up and saving a geo-targeted segment first, and then using the trigger Contact has entered or exited a segment to enter contacts into your campaign:
