You can use a product selector block to display products in an email and link to the right product page on your site.
There are two variants of the block, both available in the email block catalog:
- Specified products - a fixed set of products you pick when building the template. Every recipient sees the same products.
- Specified products from custom field - products vary per recipient, based on a List of product IDs custom field on their contact record. For example, each recipient sees products from their own wishlist.
For Specified products from custom field, products are resolved at send time, so each recipient gets up-to-date prices and product data for their home store.
As well as the product image, you can include price and other product attributes like brand, style, colour, etc. to display as image captions.
To do this, select the edit icon against each of your selected products in the block.
You can edit the product title and add raw data which can be used to add other details, e.g. the brand.
Be aware that to add a brand you'll need to add extra_data to the product selector in the master template, then use JSON syntax to edit the brand or the extra_data in the visual editor. Contact support if you need help with this.
Specified products from custom field
Use this variant when you want each recipient to see a different set of products in the email, based on data you hold against their contact record. Typical use cases:
- Wishlist or favourites
- Recently viewed products
- Recommended for you
- Loyalty rewards
Setting up the block
-
In the visual editor sidebar, add a Specified products from custom field block to your template.
-
In the custom field dropdown at the top of the block settings, choose the List of product IDs custom field you want to use. Only fields of this type appear in the dropdown.
-
Under Fallback products (optional), add the products to use when a recipient doesn't have enough products in their custom field. Drag to reorder - the products at the top are used first.
How products are chosen when the email sends
For each recipient, Ometria fills the block with products from their custom field, localised to their home store. Up to 12 products are shown per block.
If a recipient has fewer products in their custom field than the block has slots, the empty slots are filled from your fallback list in priority order.
A slot is filled from the fallback list when:
- The recipient has no products, or fewer products than the block size, in their custom field.
- A product in their custom field is no longer active or is out of stock (depending on your campaign's product filters).
- A product in their custom field isn't available in the recipient's home store.
Limits and notes
- Up to 12 products per block.
- The custom field must be a List of product IDs custom field. Other custom field types don't appear in the dropdown.
- You can use multiple Specified products from custom field blocks in the same template, each pointing at a different custom field.
- This block works in both broadcast and automation campaigns.
- Preview: when you first add the block to a template, the visual editor shows a placeholder until you save the template. After saving, the preview shows real product data from a sample profile.

Selecting stores
If you choose the default store option, the product data (e.g. product URL, image, etc.) comes from the default product data Ometria receives from your ecommerce platform.
If you choose a specific store from the dropdown (e.g. English, French, etc.), the product data will be specific to that store.
The store option above applies to Specified products blocks. For Specified products from custom field, each recipient automatically sees product data from their home store.
