From the Edit profile data (AKA Edit raw) window you can:
- Edit the field values of your merge tags for tests and previews
- Test any merge tags in your template which use custom fields
- Control and test dynamic content in custom blocks built by Ometria's Creative Team
To access this window, go to Preview in your template and scroll down to Edit raw.
Changing the field values in your merge tags
The preview data in your template is added by Ometria as default - for example the contact is 'Bob' in all previews unless otherwise changed:
You can change the way these fields display in the preview from the Edit profile data window.
In the Preview tab, click Edit raw data and find the "profile"
data.
Change any of the data here by editing the field value - in this example, we've changed Bob's name to Frederick:
Testing merge tags with custom fields
You might be using merge tags in your templates which merge data from custom fields, e.g. for your loyalty programme.

Because the preview contact used in the template builder uses dummy data, the profile doesn't have custom fields or their associated values in it:
This means you'll need to edit the raw data to test that merge tag and make sure it works the way you want it to.
To do this, open up the Edit profile data window and scroll down to the "properties"
field under "profile"
:
Paste the custom field ID (this is the same one you're using in the merge tag) underneath "properties"
:
Next, enter the field value you want to test - this should be an exact match for an existing custom field value (i.e. you need to have contacts in Ometria who have this value against the custom field you're using.)
Save your changes - you'll see the value reflected in your template wherever you placed the merge tag:
