Ometria has a few different methods for sending emails in different languages.
- Static language templates - Ideal for two or three different languages/markets.
- Dynamic language templates - Best for two to five languages.
- Multi-language templates - Great if you send in five or more languages.
Decide on the right choice for you based on the number of languages you need and how comfortable you are using code.
Static language templates
If you only have two or three languages/markets, the easiest option is to send a separate email to each market.
You can do this using static templates:
Single static template
One template with all of your different language blocks available.
The Creative Team can build you two templates, one for automation and one for broadcast, each with separate header, footer and social blocks (as well as any other block containing hard coded text and/or links) for each language.
E.g. A multi-language template with blocks for English, German and French.
You can then drag in the blocks you need when you're building your template in the visual editor.
This approach makes editing and future amendments easier.
Multiple static templates
Multiple templates with language specific blocks.
The Creative Team can create a template for every language/market you need, for both automation and broadcast.
All of the hard coded copy and links will be specific to that market, e.g. An English template, a German template, a French template, etc.
Dynamic language templates
If you operate in two to five markets with different languages, the Creative Team can build you a dynamic language template.
These templates have dynamic headers, footers and social blocks (as well as any other block containing hard coded text and/or links) which display different content based on the contact's data, e.g. the preferred language field.
You can handle the emails and their content in one of two ways:
Dynamic content
Use Jinja code to create dynamic content blocks and send one version of your email to a variety of customers in different languages/regions.
Make sure that your fallback (default) language (the one after the ‘else’) is the same as the one that was used for the hardcoded blocks:

Segments based on the language/market
Build a separate email for each language/market using the appropriate language for your content blocks, and send out to market-specific segments.
You don’t need to worry about matching up the correct headers, footers etc. as they will change dynamically.
Multi-language templates
If you send in five or more languages, then Ometria's multi-language feature might be right for you.
A multi-language template contains translation tags in all or some of its blocks.
These templates can be used in multi-language campaigns.
You need to be using the new template framework to be able to have multi-language templates.
If you are still on the old framework, the Creative Team will need you to upgrade your templates first.
How do I know if I’m using the new framework?
You're likely on the new framework if:
- Your current master templates were built in or after January 2022
- A lot of your blocks have coded settings for options like stack vs. non-stack
