When do alerts trigger?
You'll only get an alert if:
- At least 5000 emails have been sent, or;
- At least 5% of the total campaign recipients have been sent the email
Low click-to-open rate
If you received an alert due to a low click-to-open rate (CTOR), you might want to check for:
- Broken or unclear CTAs/links
- Content that doesn't deliver on the subject line's promise
- Rendering issues on phone screens, e.g. buttons may be too small
- Too many competing CTAs causing decision paralysis
- Whether the offer/value proposition is compelling
- Images blocking CTA visibility
It's also worth making sure all of the content is correct, e.g. subject line, merge tags etc.
High unsubscribe rate
If you received an alert due to a high unsubscribe rate, you might want to check for:
- Content in your email which isn't relevant to the contacts you targeted
- Email frequency too high - consider stricter frequency capping
- Misleading subject lines
- Poor list hygiene
Low open rate
If you received an alert due to a low open rate, you might want to check for:
- A misleading or uncompelling subject line
- Emails hitting the spam folder
- Send times that might not be right for this audience
- An unrecognisable sender name
- Unengaging preview text
Recommended actions
Click the View Campaign link in your alert email and work through these steps:
- Check your email preview in Gmail, Outlook and Apple Mail
- Test all of the links and CTAs in your email
- Review the segments your campaign is targeting
- Consider pausing your campaign while you make changes. See: Pausing broadcast campaigns
