Magento is an ecommerce platform which provides online retailers with a shopping cart system and other functionality for your online store.
Once set up, Magento data is ingested hourly by Ometria by default.
This article explains how to add the Ometria extension to your Magento 1 ecommerce platform, allowing you to automatically import your contacts, products and orders.
Ometria also supports integration with Magento 2.
Before you begin
Before you can set up Magento 1, you’ll need the following:
- Your Magento Connect login and password - if you don’t have an account, you’ll need to register at magentocommerce.com
- An Ometria account with admin user permissions.
- Your Ometria site ID, provided by email from your technical project manager (TPM) during onboarding.
Setup steps
First, download the latest version of our Magento 1 extension here.
Next, disable the Magento Compiler: System > Tools > Compilation > Disable
Finally, log into Magento and upload the extension files by going to: System > Magento Connect > Magento Connect Manager:
In the Direct package file upload panel, select the package from your file system and then click Upload.
Once uploaded, select Return to Admin.
Clear the Magento Cache by going to: System > Cache Management and clicking Flush Magento Cache.
Logout of Magento and re-enable the compiler by going to: System > Tools > Compilation > Run Compilation Process.
Configure your extension
Follow the steps in Manually create web service users and roles for Magento 1 to manually configure the Ometria extension and create a Web Services user and role for Ometria, or follow the steps below to use Ometria’s Setup Wizard in the Magento Admin.
First, install the extension from Magento Connect.
In Magento, go to System > Configuration > Ometria > Analytics settings
Paste your Ometria site ID into the Configuration screen and select Product ID from the drop-down.
Click Save Config.
You can now begin the setup wizard, click Start Setup Wizard.
Paste in the API Key (the second code on your Ometria setup screen) into the popup screen and click Next.
A success message displays once the extension has been configured correctly. Click Finished.
Ensure that the Enabled option is set to Yes and click Save Config again.
If both steps in your wizard are green, it means the extension was configured successfully and is working as expected:
If they do not turn green, it is possible that there are no visitors currently on your site, and the JavaScript needs to be triggered by an active session.
You should also ensure you've turned off any ad-blockers.
If you are still getting an error page, take a screenshot of the page and contact Support.
