Automation campaigns performance: Compare metrics over time

The Compare metrics over time section on the Automation campaigns tab sits below the Reach and engagement funnel. The Performance overview at the top gives you a pinned snapshot of each KPI, whereas this section shows your up to eight chosen KPIs together on one chart, so you can see how they trend over time and how the current period compares with a previous one.

It uses the date ranges set in the View by selector at the top of the page and respects any campaign filter you've applied with Filter by campaigns.

Choosing your metrics

Select Select metrics to open the metric drawer. Metrics are grouped by channel, e.g., email, SMS, and push, plus a Shared metrics group for cross-channel metrics like average order value, which combines activity from every channel rather than just one. You can select metrics individually or select a whole channel at once (up to eight metrics). 

Use the search box to find a metric by name, which is handy when the same metric exists per channel, e.g., searching "average" shows average order value for shared, email, SMS, and push. Each metric in the drawer shows its current value and percentage change, so you can see which ones are worth pinning before you commit. The counter at the top shows how many of your eight slots are used, and Deselect all clears your selection. Select Apply to update the cards and chart.

You can display up to eight metrics at a time. If selecting a whole channel would take you past eight, Ometria adds metrics from that channel until you reach the limit.

Ometria remembers your selection, so your chosen metrics are still in place the next time you open the tab.

💡 Fewer metrics usually tell a clearer story. Two or three related metrics are much easier to read on the chart than eight. See Choosing which metrics to compare below.

Reading the KPI cards

Each metric appears as a card showing its total for your selected date range, plus a percentage change against the comparison period set in the date range selector.

An infinity symbol (∞) on a card means the metric had no data in the comparison period, so a percentage change can't be calculated. This is common for newer channels, e.g., push metrics if you only started sending push recently.

Each card's colour matches its series on the chart below.

Reading the chart

The chart shows each selected metric over time, colour-coded to match its card. Solid lines and darker bars show the current period. Dashed lines and lighter bars show the comparison period, aligned point by point so you're always comparing like with like, e.g., Jun 26 against May 26.

Metrics measured in different units are displayed on separate y-axes. Monetary values and counts use the left axis, and percentage rates use the right axis. This means you can compare metrics on very different scales, e.g., email revenue in the thousands against a conversion rate below 1%, and still see the shape of both.

Use View by on the section header to group the chart by day, week, or month. Mouse over any point to see the exact current and comparison values for every metric at that point.Choosing which metrics to compare
