SheerID is an identity verification service used in the US to provide exclusive discounts to students, military personnel, healthcare staff, etc.
With this integration, when someone submits their details to SheerID their data is sent to Ometria as either a new or updated contact.
You can use this data to create welcome campaigns and to segment your contacts.

Before you begin
To get started with SheerID, contact your Customer Success Representative.
You'll need an account with SheerID and a SheerID access token (API key) from your account settings.
Generate a new API key in Ometria and copy it.
Only users with administrator account permissions can access the API keys tab.
You'll need to set up two custom fields in Ometria for SheerID to send data to.
Data sent to Ometria
Default fields
Ometria automatically syncs the following fields from SheerID:
- First name
- Last name
- Date of birth
Custom fields
These are custom fields which you'll need to create in your Ometria account:
Custom field | Type | Description |
sheerid_status | String | Whether the contact has passed SheerID verification. |
sheerid_segment | String | The type of SheerID verification, such as Student, Military etc. |
Setting up your integration with SheerID
In Ometria, go to Settings > Connections and click Add a new connection:
Select the SheerID subscribers tile:
Complete the fields in the SheerID set up screen:
In the SheerID set up screen, select the dropdown and click Add new account.
You'll be prompted to create a new authentication - give it a name and enter the Ometria API key you copied earlier, then select Create.
Next, enter the following details:
Field | Description |
Subscription preference | Select an option from the dropdown - this defines the subscription preference Ometria sets for contacts sent by SheerID.
|
SheerID API access token | Paste in your access token from your SheerID account settings. |
- Successful submission - opt-in the contact
- Unsuccessful submission - Do not change subscription status (Unchanged)
To do this, you should set up two separate SheerID processes and set a different Subscription preference for each, then set up two different SheerID connections in Ometria to receive each type.
Select Next to continue.
The Webhook URLscreen displays.
Copy the URL and paste it into your SheerID program settings.
You can use this for successful and unsuccessful submissions if you like.
Select Finish to finalise your connection.
