A website overlay is an onsite pop up that displays in front of a webpage.
Ometria overlays are for lead acquisition, and you can collect both email addresses and phone numbers.
You can create as many overlays as you like for your account as well as for each of your individual stores/markets.
Overlays display once every 24 hours, and only display to unidentified visitors.
Our overlays load after the page has been loaded (after the OnLoad event).

Getting started
To start using overlays, raise a request with our Support Team.
There is no technical setup required to get started with your website overlay - all you need to do is raise the request and Ometria's Support Team will enable the necessary backend changes.
Once Support has confirmed this is complete, you can start creating your overlay.
Upgrading a legacy overlay
If you created an overlay in Ometria before September 2024, you'll need to raise a Support request as described above.
Once Support has confirmed you're good to go, you'll need to upgrade your legacy overlay to make use of all the new features including phone number collection and multi-version overlays.
This is quick and easy to do!
In Ometria, go to Campaigns > Website overlay and click Upgrade and then Continue.
When you upgrade, Ometria generates a new overlay containing all of the elements you already had, e.g. copy, colours, background image, privacy URL, etc.
Your previous overlay is still available, and will remain live (or whichever status you had set) until you set the upgraded version to Live.
When you set the new overlay live, the old one is automatically paused.

Privacy policy links
You are required to include a link to the privacy policy on your website in your overlay. Without it, you can't save the campaign.
Speak to your Customer Success Representative if you’re unsure.
Security
Our forms have anti-bots security embedded to avoid malicious uses of overlays.
Fonts
The overlay builder has access to the most common web safe fonts including Arial, Helvetica, Lato, Verdana, etc.
If you want to use a custom font, we recommend uploading the desired text as an image file and inserting it as a background image.
Double opt-in
You can choose to apply single or double opt-in to each of your overlay versions.
See: Define overlay opt-in rules per country
In most cases, double opt-in is a best practice to make sure you're complying with regional data protection guidelines.
