Once a contact signs-up, they'll get an SMS with a link to click to verify their opt-in status:

How SMS double opt-in works
SMS double opt-in can be triggered when Ometria receives an SMS opt-in from a contact via:
- Your preference centre
- An Ometria overlay
- API
When the double opt-in SMS is sent, an update displays in the contact's SMS consent log in the single customer view.
This consent log is updated again when the contact clicks the link and confirms their opt-in.
Before you begin
- Contact your Customer Success Representative to make sure your account is set up for double opt-in
- Define your opt-in rules per country
Time limits
Ometria won't trigger a double opt-in SMS if:
- your contact opted-in more than 10 days ago
- your contact received a double opt-in SMS in the last three days
These rules are to prevent spam.
Double opt-in for existing contacts
If you already have contacts opted-in to SMS but not double opted-in, you can send an SMS campaign with a double opt-in link.
If your contacts previously double opted-in through another system, you can update their opt-in status via CSV upload.
For both cases, see: SMS double opt-in for historical contacts
