Guests are mobile app users who aren't logged in, i.e. we can't identify them based on customer ID or email address.
Ometria now creates contact records for app guests so that you can:
- Build segments including app guests
- Message app guests via push notifications
If an app guest logs into your app, Ometria merges their guest record with any potential duplicates.
App guests in the single customer view
Your contact details screen for guests won't have an email or user ID, and might be missing other key information:
Merging app guests with identified contacts
When an app guest logs into your app and provides either an email address or customer ID, they are identifying themself.
Ometria receives their identifying information, as well as their guest ID, and uses this to merge their guest profile with any identified profiles that already exist.
Example:
Tina has been a customer for years and places orders regularly through the store website, so she has a profile in Ometria with her name and email address.
Tina has downloaded the app, but never logged in, so she also has an app guest profile, which doesn't have her name or contact details.
One day, Tina remembers about the app and logs in, providing her email address.
Ometria collects the email address and her guest ID, and uses them to find both of Tina's Ometria profiles.
Tina's profiles are merged into one.
Segmenting on app guests
