Update customer variant preferences
Set up a campaign which records your contacts' product variant preferences based on a product variant they've interacted with, e.g. shoe size or colour.
First, create a contact level custom field for the product variant you're tracking, e.g. Size.
Next, set up a segment for each variant type, e.g. Size 5, Size 6, Size 7, etc.
Once your custom field and segments are set up, create an automation campaign using the trigger 'Contact has entered a segment'.
Include all of the segments you created in the trigger.
Segment the campaign by each variant you're tracking, and then add an update contact data action to each of them:
Once you've finished, Save and Publish your campaign.
Update offer status
Set up a campaign to identify whether or not contacts are eligible for an offer.
This is useful if you export contact data to a third party BI or marketing tool and need a field to reference.
First, create a contact level custom field for 'Offer status'.
Next, set up a segment which defines the parameters of ineligibility, e.g. contacts who have already ordered a specific product, contacts who have used a coupon code recently, low value customers, etc.

Once your custom field and segments are set up, create an automation campaign using the trigger 'Contact has entered a segment'.
Include the segment you just created in the trigger.
Next, add a segment for 'everyone', and then add an update contact data action:
Once you've finished, Save and Publish your campaign.
Any new entries to the segment in your trigger will enter the campaign.
Identify customer behaviour
Use an automation campaign to update contact custom fields with their purchase behaviour, e.g. discount shoppers, luxury shoppers, etc.
This is useful if you export contact data to a third party BI or marketing tool and need a field to reference.
First, create a contact level custom field for the behaviour you're tracking, e.g. Discount shopper.
Next, create a segment based on your definition of a discount shopper - e.g. they've used a coupon code to order, or purchased specific sale products before.
Use this segment as your entry trigger when creating your automation campaign.
Next, add a segment for everyone, and then add an update contact data action:
Once you've finished, Save and Publish your campaign.
Any new entries to the segment in your trigger will enter the campaign.
Combining contact data updates in one campaign
When collecting demographic information, you might want to combine updates to multiple custom fields into one campaign:
You can do this by adding more than one segment to the entry trigger and using segmentation to direct your contacts to the right action.
