In Ometria you can trigger automation campaigns to send when a product a contact has viewed drops in price.
How it works
The price drop tigger looks for visit events from the past six weeks that did not lead to an order.
If...
- the product (or variant) in the visit event has dropped in price, and;
- change in price meets the minimum percentage price drop set in the campaign trigger,
Then the contact who made the visit enters your campaign.
Contacts who have placed orders for those products in this time won't enter.
A contact’s entry can only be triggered by one product, and price drop campaigns will only include one product in the email.
If the contact has viewed multiple products without purchasing in the last six weeks then Ometria selects the product which has the highest price after the price drop.
Contacts can be entered into the campaign multiple times for multiple products by using the re-entry condition.
Product listings
If you don't use product listings for your products then Ometria uses the default currency on your account when triggering price drop campaigns.
For example, if you reduce the price of a product in your Australian store, but not your UK store, and send Ometria the price update for the Australian product listing, then only contacts who have seen the product in the Australian store will enter the campaign.
A price update to a product with no store ID will trigger customers from all stores.
Before you begin
The price drop feature is triggered by a change in price, which means that a product (or variant) must be pushed at its original price, and then again at a lower price.
Most importers (including Shopify and Magento) reimport all products to Ometria every seven days, but if you are using a custom importer that hasn't imported all of your listings since 1st April 2020 then you may need to reimport.
Contact Support if you're unsure.
Once you are ready to use the price drop trigger then you can upload the products at their reduced price.
Template blocks for price drop
We have created a new template block for using the price drop feature.
Existing clients should request this block from your Customer Success Representative.
If you are an onboarding client, this block is already added to your template by default.

Set up your trigger as follows:
- The contact has… recently viewed a product that went on sale.
- Limit to selected products: (which is one of) > select your products to include in the campaign
- Exclude selected products: (which is one of) > select your products to exclude from the campaign
- Minimum percentage price drop: enter the percentage drop to be considered. (E.g. If you enter 20%, this trigger will automate when the selected products drop by any percentage of 20% or higher.)
If you don't select any products in this entry trigger, the campaign will trigger for all products which meet the minimum percentage price drop.
Select Save.
Next, define a re-entry condition and set up a wait node, then continue to create the rest of your flow as required.
Editing your template
Once you are happy with the automation flow, add an Action tile and select Send email:
From here you can choose an email template, enter a subject line and preheader, select a product to recommend and add a coupon code.

How often are products imported?
For Magento and Shopify users, product listings are imported every seven days.
If the price of a product changes, it is imported within three hours.
Stores with custom importers upload their products via the API at their discretion.
How are changes in price recorded?
Ometria records the lowest available price of imported products and listings in the price drop table.
The lowest price available is either the product price or a currently active 'special price'.
If a future product changes the available price (either up or down), this difference is recorded.
