Sending coupon reminders reduces the number of new codes you generate, protecting your profit margins.
Reminders can also increase email engagement by sending more targeted and interconnected content.
You can send coupon reminders in your broadcast and automation campaigns.

Coupon reminders: Automation
- Send the active customers in your abandoned basket campaigns a reminder about their post-purchase coupon code.
- Remind the leads in your abandoned basket campaigns about the welcome code you sent them when they signed up.
Set up
Set up an automation campaign segmented by lifecycle stage:
Add the relevant coupon pools to each send node.
To remind your leads of their welcome code, add the pool and check the Only re-send assigned coupons box in the send email form.
Apply the abandoned basket code to all your other segments, making sure to check the Only re-send assigned coupons box in the send email form.
Save your campaign.
Next, set up your templates.
Remember to use the Hide this block functionality to hide the coupon block from contacts who've already redeemed their code.
This functionality gives you the option to 'hide' coupons in your email template if:
- the code has already been redeemed by the contact,
- there is no valid code available for the selected pool,
- the coupon has expired based on your ecommerce platform rules, or;
- the contact has not yet received a coupon from this pool (or has received one and already redeemed it) and it's a reminder email.
Example
Coupon reminders: Broadcast
Include a reminder of any kind of coupon code in your broadcast campaigns, e.g.:
- Welcome codes
- Abandoned basket codes
- Birthday offers
Set up
When adding coupons to your broadcast campaign, make sure to check the Only re-send assigned coupons box:
Remember to use the Hide this block functionality to hide the coupon block from contacts who've already redeemed their code:
Unify coupon codes across similar campaigns
If you are using the same incentive across several campaigns, e.g. a 10% discount, you might want to reconsider using the same pool across all campaigns.
Why create multiple coupon pools when you can increase your email engagement and chances of conversion using just one?
Use the same coupon pool across multiple campaigns - automation, broadcast, or a combination of the two.
For example, if you have a win-back programme with a campaigns split be by months lapsed:
- Lapsed 3 months
- Lapsed 6 months
- Lapsed 9 months
- Lapsed 12 months
- Lapsed 18 months
Or broken down by lifecycle stage:
- At-risk
- Lapsed
You could simply create a 'win-back' coupon pool and use that across all of your campaigns in the programme.
