Open the campaign builder for your individual campaign and navigate to the Send tab.
Scroll down for tracking parameters:
Select Add under ‘Tracking parameters’ and enter:
- Your tracking parameter
- The parameter value
See the list of default tracking parameters for reference.
You can also select a user attribute from the Insert personalisation drop-down list. This will populate the required merge tag, allowing you to track attribution specific to the contact who clicks through to those fields.
You can use Insert personalisation, or you can use any merge tags to include data here.
Select Save to finalise your changes.
Add tracking parameters to variants
If you have multiple variants in your broadcast campaign, you can add individual tracking parameters to each variant.
From the campaign builder, navigate to the Send tab, then select the segment you want to add tracking to:
Scroll down for Tracking parameters and select Add under ‘Tracking parameters’ and enter:
utm_content
{{email.variant.identifier}}
utm_content = {{email.variant.identifier}}
is applied to your broadcast campaign by default to allow you to track the variant performance. If you use utm_content to set a different custom variable, this will overwrite the default parameter and your variants will no longer be tracked. In this case you would need to set up another custom parameter to track the variant e.g. utm_term = {{email.variant.identifier}}
You can also select a user attribute from the Insert personalisation drop-down list.
This populates the required merge tag, allowing you to track attribution specific to the contact who clicks through to those fields.
Select Save to finalise your changes.

Tracking parameter hierarchy
This section explains the order in which tracking parameters are overridden.
An override means that:
- if a parameter doesn't exist on the previous level, it gets added
- if a parameter does exist on the previous level, the old value is discarded and the new value is used for it
