When you select Estimate audience in the Recipients tab of your broadcast campaign, Ometria performs a quick calculation based on a random sample of your chosen recipients. This calculation method only applies on this tab and not other areas of estimations.
From this sample, we use an extrapolation method to provide a quick estimate of your total audience.
The estimated number doesn't take your frequency caps or into account or exclude contacts who are currently in automation campaigns (even if you've checked that flag), but it does remove contacts who are on account level suppression lists.
Where segment counts are low, the estimation accuracy may have an increased +/- variation and this is indicated by icon as shown below:
There are two ways the estimate the audiences for your broadcast campaigns:
- For each segment/variant
- For the whole campaign
The numbers are estimated because:
- Your broadcast campaign recipients are calculated at the point of send, not at the point of scheduling.
- The estimated number does not take into account your frequency caps or contacts who might be on suppression lists.
Campaign estimates
Select Estimate audience in the Recipients tab of the broadcast builder to see how many recipients are estimated to receive each variant you’ve created:
You can see the breakdown for each segment as well as the overall estimated audience for the campaign:
Check the Audience definitions to see how you're doing:
| Definition | Description |
| Targeted | The estimated audience is below 30% of your total subscriber base. |
| Balanced | The estimated audience is between 30% and 70% of your total subscriber base. |
| Broad | The estimated audience is more than 70% of your total subscriber base. |
Due to caching and the exclusion of account level suppressed contacts in the broadcast builder, your estimated recipients might be different from the number of contacts you can see in the segment explorer.
