See also: Adding tracking parameters to automation campaigns
Go to: Account > Settings > Channel Settings and select either Email or SMS:
Under Automation > Default tracking parameters fields enter:
- Your tracking parameter
- The parameter value
See the list of default tracking parameters for reference:
You can also select a user attribute from the ‘Insert personalisation’ drop-down list.
This will populate the required merge tag, allowing you to track attribution specific to the contact who clicks through to those fields.
You can insert Personalisation, or you can use any merge tags to include data here.
Select Add to add further parameters.
Click Save to preserve your changes.
Merge tags
You can add merge tags in your tracking parameters if you want to report on specific parts of your automation flow.
For templates
{{email.template_title}}
- where the title of the template used is as defined under Campaigns > Templates.
For example, you can label a send node in your automation flow and then add the merge tag {{node_title}}
to your utm_content parameter:
utm_content={{email.node_title}}
Add further granularity by appending the segment and node titles, concatenating this - for example:
utm_content={{email.segment_title}}_{{email.node_title}}
See merge tags for more.
Tracking parameter hierarchy
This section explains the order in which tracking parameters are overridden.
An override means that:
- if a parameter doesn't exist on the previous level, it gets added
- if a parameter does exist on the previous level, the old value is discarded and the new value is used for it

If you duplicate a broadcast campaign Ometria uses the parameters sent in the Send tab, if any.
If you manually delete all campaign and variant level parameters, Ometria uses your account level parameters.

Twilio SMS
There are no default parameters for Twilio SMS users.
For SMS sends using our integration with Twilio, Ometria only appends parameters defined on the URLs used in the SMS builder.
Ometria does not apply account or campaign level parameters, which means you can add them manually to your links in the SMS builder.
